Ode To Cape Girl

I've always wanted a cape. I reminisce about "cape girl" on this Valentine's Day. May she find love. Somewhere.

Ode To Cape Girl

Billowed behind, green velvet signals her.
The cape, always worn daily, never fades.
Still effortless, with grace she glides a blur.
Her smile is lost. Her eyes darkened by shades.
She has an air that many wish to own.
-A certain sense of self without a care.
Her friend could I be though she's not a charm.
It seems as though she'd rather be alone.
Her cape, a mark of liberty so rare.
A striking sight. Security. No harm.

Ever wanted to write an Ode? Its not hard to do, if you understand poetic feet. Odes are typically ten lines long. They rhyme in ABABCDECDE form. They use iambic pentameter (daDAH daDAH daDAH daDAH daDAH). Try it!

  1. This is a lovely ode. Thank you.

  2. I concur with Cara. Lovely! Love, mom
